Dr. Jeffrey C. Johnson: Comprehensive Optometrist

Dr. Jeffrey C. Johnson, behavioral and developmental optometrist at Artisan Optics in Boise Idaho

“Every day for more than 20 years I have been excited about seeing my patients.  My favorite part of the exam is when I have the opportunity to talk with the patient about what is going on with their eyes.  Teaching you about your eyes allows you to take part in your health care and allows us to work together to meet your visual needs.  I can’t tell you how many patients have said ‘that is the first time that has ever been explained to me, it makes sense now.’  I could not imagine caring for my patients without explaining what is going on and how we can fix it.”

“Whether it is with glasses, contact lenses, or LASIK, I enjoy when my patients tell me that they are seeing better than ever.  Finding the right prescription for people who are extremely nearsighted or farsighted is really exciting because when they put on their glasses or contacts they don’t just see a little better, they stop stubbing their toe on furniture or stumbling over the dog.  Getting the numbers right in the prescription is important, but so is choosing the right frame and lens style.  I enjoy helping with all aspects of seeing clearly and comfortably.”

“Idahoans are very active, and who could blame us?  We are minutes away from great running, hiking, biking, rafting, skiing, and just about any other outdoor activity you can think of.  When it is time to leave the glasses at home and put on your contacts, they should be comfortable and help you see as clearly as possible.  I enjoy working with difficult contact lens fits, activity-specific contact lens fits, and the day-to-day wearers.  And if the day comes when you decide to ditch contacts and glasses, I will help you through the decision to pursue LASIK.  I think LASIK is a great option if you are a good candidate. Our office has all of the specialized instruments to determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK.  We also have a surgery suite onsite where our ophthalmologist and LASIK surgeon, Dr. Mathew Tempest will perform your LASIK surgery.”
