Great For Kids

Parents enjoy bringing their young children to see Dr. Jill Kronberg, Idaho's first residency-trained pediatric optometrist, at our Uptown location. Parents are able to park right in front of our office, making it safe and easy to get the kids to their appointment. The exam rooms at our Uptown location have the specialized equipment necessary to provide comprehensive, developmental eye examinations for children of all ages and ability levels. Our exam rooms even have monitors that let your child's trip to the eye doctor include watching movies (while our doctor performs objective measurements of prescription and eye health).

The American Optometric Association recommends that children have eye exams at 9 months of age, 3 years of age, and every year starting at 5 years of age.

Dr. Jill Kronberg knows the importance of early diagnosis and intervention, which is why she is a provider for the InfantSEE program. This national program provides free eye exams for children before their first birthday. Dr. Kronberg recommends that you bring your child in between the ages of 6 and 9 months, as a number of visual developmental milestones occur by this age.

Eyecare For The Whole Family

With three optometrists, Artisan Optics has an eye doctor for every member of your family. Whether you need a comprehensive eye examination, contact lens fitting, an emergency visit for an eye infection, or one of our specialty services, our Uptown location is for you. Our Uptown location has the latest equipment to diagnose and manage a wide range of vision conditions.

Our diagnostic imaging equipment includes:

Retinal Photography - Allows our doctors to photo-document a wide range of ocular conditions, including diabetic changes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and many other conditions.

Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) - The OCT provides real-time cross-sectional images and quantitative analysis of retinal features to optomize the diagnosis and management of retinal disease.

Visual Field Testing – Visual field, or side vision, testing is important in the management of glaucoma. It is also used to identify ocular changes that can be caused by certain medications.

Corneal Topography – Measuring the curvature of the cornea (the front surface of the eye) allows our doctors to fit specialty contact lenses, such as rigid gas permeable (RGP) and scleral lenses. Our doctors are also able to manage corneal conditions, such as keratoconus.

Systemic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure) often affect the eyes. Anyone who has been diagnosed with these conditions needs to have a comprehensive eye examination at least once per year. This eye examination should include dilation and retinal photography. When a systemic condition begins to affect the eyes it is important that your doctor have diagnostic imaging equipment to monitor your eye health and the progression of the disease.
