Not all eye infections are created equal. When people think of eye infections the first thing that comes to mind is pink eye. Picture a pink/red eye, swollen lid, and probably some discharge from around the eyeball. While a lot of eye irritation presents in a similar fashion they can have totally different etiologies and require different treatment options. With variation in causes of eye infections it is important to seek care with an eye care professional to start with the most appropriate treatment.

The holidays are upon us and year end is quickly approaching. Its easy to get caught up in the hustle bustle of the season as we plan for get togethers with family and friends, place ribbons and bows on holiday gifts, and begin our list of New Year's resolutions. While we may feel like we have plenty of time to squeeze everything in, the clock is ticking for those of us with Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).

It's official it is November. That means snow is on the mountains (soon to be streets) and it is Diabetes Awareness Month. Diabetes is a serious systemic disease that has an impact on the entire body; it is also more common than people realize. The Center for Disease Control estimated that in 2015 30.3 million people in the United States had diabetes. That is almost ten percent of the population of the United States!

Back to school time is here! Where did the summer go? With all of the back to school preparations (school supplies, school clothes, etc.) did you remember to get your children in for a comprehensive eye examination? Children's eye examinations are so important because 80% of what we learn is visual and recent research indicates that certain types of refractive errors (myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia) can have an impact on literacy.

Well Boise, can you believe it is August already? August in national Children's Eye Health and Safety Month. August is a perfect time of year for Children's Eye Health and Safety Month because it gets children's eyes ready for the next school year! Back to school season seems to be weighted towards getting new school supplies and school clothes when it needs to include making sure children can see their school work and are happy and healthy.

Alright Boise, it is that time of year again, Fourth of July! This is the time of year to celebrate our nation's independence. Many American's partake in this holiday by blowing things up. Ah the joys of fireworks, they really offer everything a good party needs: sound, light, and a little sparkle. Just like we discussed last year though, these little beauties can be very dangerous. So hold onto your popsicle because here comes a review!
